Travel PT Packing List: Everything You Need for Your Assignment
Before your first travel PT assignment, you need to pack everything a permanent staff PT would have at arm's reach — because your new facility won't supply it. This checklist covers the essential clinical tools, personal care items, and organizational gear that experienced travel PTs bring on every 13-week contract.
The most commonly forgotten items: your own goniometer, a portable blood pressure cuff, resistance bands, and a 90-day medication supply. The most commonly wasted money: duplicate items the facility actually does provide (large exercise equipment, parallel bars, treatment tables). Pack smart, pack light, pack once.
- Clinical Tools: Goniometer, reflex hammer, stethoscope, portable BP cuff, pulse oximeter, penlight, tape measure
- Therapeutic Equipment: Resistance bands, TENS unit, foam roller, gait belt
- Documentation: PT license copies, CPR card, state compact privilege letters, health records, professional liability insurance
- Personal: 90-day prescription supply, comfortable scrubs, supportive shoes
